"Midweek Shoegaze: Zebra Tracks"

This could grow somewhat habit forming. A generous application of Cassini Mission Saturn photos (note the moon, a Tethys or a Rhea or some such, slinking around the planet’s southern pole like a guilty urchin – or astral fluff on the camera lens), soundtracked by the expansive reach of a shoegaze record (headphones, jarring volume). It’s the opportunity to turn off that wretched mind coil – the part of the brain that pumps out constant thought and those obsidious, palsied diatribes (notes passim) to leave – when the wind drops – space in which to feel the sound. In other words: something to act as a reminder; there’s more to life than words (or my case, also more than pretending to be an owl, or throwing seductive shapes in the liquor store queue).

There’s not too much more than music, however.

Below the words: ‘Bicycles’ by Zebra Tracks. Something that shimmers darkly. The type of record that requires a degree of divination before the lyrics begin to softly permeate. Also the type of band it’s not too easy to find too much about (shoegaze from Greece – what’s not to love? Well, perhaps only the paucity of non-Greek interweb text concerning the band. Does anyone have anything to add, beyond the same hundred words of generic rhubarb I keep encountering?).

But that’s a small gripe; I particularly dig the bass guitar on this. Something to anchor the swirlier elements; orbital resonance, if you like your music references Saturnian and your author lying on the floorboards after his second bottle of wine, listening, listening…

"Zebra Tracks – We Found A Reason to Live and We Called It God"

Zebra Tracks make something fierce with face ripping rock that would probably be our best friend too if we were living through the turmoil of life in Greece nowadays. “We Found A Reason…” is something poetic to a decades (ages) old type statement. - blahblahblahscience

"Zebra Tracks – We Found A Reason to Live and We Called it God"

We Found A Reason to Live and We Called it God”.

- RadioNation Italy

"Zebra tracks, il video di We Found a reason to live and we called it god"

La band ha suonato in Grecia e in Europa insieme a band come Placebo, Faith No More, Unkle, Yeasayer, Kaiser Chiefs, the Levellers, Long Blondes, Good Shoes, Television Personalities, the Chap.
- indie-eye.it

"Zebra Tracks “We Found A Reason to Live and We Called it God” music video"

This is most fun and energetic “shoegaze” act that I’ve ever come across. American listeners might compare the Greek band Zebra Tracks to Boston-based stoner-rock/pop outfit Junius. This video looks great and their whole album, titled Collective Guilt, is a great listen. Although the album doesn’t come out until July 17th, you can give the whole thing a listen at: http://soundcloud.com/limitedfanfare/sets/zebra-tracks-collective-guilt - Ears Open Taste Intact

"Video Premiere: Zebra Tracks – “Bicycles”"

Zebra Tracks have just completed “Bicycles,” a video off their upcoming release Collective Guilt.

The music in this song marries the metal edge of distorted post-rock with the softness of reverberated, English influenced vocals. That serves as the foundation of the elements in this video that may forever go without explanation.

“Bicycles” celebrates the female form with there being no loss of legs and tale. Tastefully done, the femininity is looked at from the perspective of a photographer capturing motion pictures at various locations such as a lake, a home, a swimming pool, a gymnastics felicity, and other places where seeing a woman scantily clad would be natural. Far from a skin flick, the undertone of this video carries an air of darkness and sadness.

This isn’t a video to be sought after for answers, rather, it’s moments in time. - SSGMUSIC

"Zebra Tracks – Collective Guilt"

Vedi l’urgenza di A Moment of Life e di We Found a Reason to Live and We called it God: quest’ultima è una tirata di intensità pazzesca che gioca spesso di sponda con l’industrial.

"Album Release Zebra Tracks May Be a Bunch of Greeks, But ..."

Zebra Tracks May Be a Bunch of Greeks, But They Definitely Dig KC and the Sunshine Band and Surfer Blood

It's not like everyday that a Miami-based, indie record label puts out music by a Greek band. No, not a frat guy band, but one actually from Greece. Owner and Broward native, Brian Kurtz of Limited Fanfare records stepped outside of tri-county lines, and into a Mediterranean shoegaze space with Zebra Tracks.

"Zebra Tracks are the first band on the label who weren't friends or friends of friends that I decided to put out music for," Kurtz admits. "The band's manager, Stratos, blindly sent me their record, which wasn't fully finished at that point, and simply put, I fell in love!" And a beautiful marriage has resulted from this musical romance. These talented Athenians just released their very listenable and rocking sophomore LP Collective Guilt on Kurtz' label.

Turns out Zebra Tracks is also a little in love, but with music from South Florida. "Many times we have listened to Poison the Well during our tours in the van and we also dig the new Miami bands like Surfer Blood and the Jacuzzi Boys," the band says, "but without KC there is no party time, man! All time classic grooves!"

Kurtz describes their sound, "Imagine eating a European smorgasbord of My Bloody Valentine, Bloc Party, and Muse," adding, "Yum!" Their new video for "Bicycles" is pretty fun to watch, Greek babes in bathing suits, stuff like that, but not tacky.

Get Collective Guilt on iTunes, eMusic, Spotify, you name it. You can even download it on Amazon for $4.99. But you should get it at Limited Fanfare's webstore. - New Times Broward Palm Beach

"HAVE YOU HEARD?: ZEBRA TRACKS "ISABELLE CREEPS""

- adentroyafuera

- coast-is-clear

"March's best music from across the MAP"

Zebra Tracks collect their darkest impulses and put them on stark display. The single Bicycles / Isabelle Creeps brims with their vehement energy and constitutes an intriguing step in the evolution of their simple, yet oddly affecting, and certainly promising sound. A start-to-finish rush of invigorating riffs and pointed narratives that heightens with repeated exposure. A thrilling, incontrovertible evidence of their bright future. - TheGuardian
