Emerging from the campus of USC, a few passionate students have gathered to form Y LUV. Their abbreviated and capitalized name is as eclectic as their indie rock sounds. That said, Earmilk is excited to introduce a brand new single titled "Keep It Rollin'". This track starts melodramatically with celestial echoes and ascends to a fist pumping chorus. Y LUV has the psychedelic quality of U2 and the bullish rock flow of Foster The People. There is also a hint of shoegaze in this wonderful concoction. Frontman Freddy Janney says the inspirations behind "Keep It Rollin'" are from a ridiculous YouTube video of a psychotic chef. Watch it below but on a serious note, the song is about "partying, questioning and trying to figure things out". - Earmilk

Back in November, EARMILK was excited to premiere "Keep It Rollin'," the latest track from the spirited Indie Rock quintet Y LUV. Today we are delighted to premiere another one of their tracks, this time the Gazzo remix of "Never Touch The Ground." "Never Touch The Ground" was originally included on Y LUV's How Chill Can You Let Go EP, appropriately titled for its release on April 20th, 2011. A day already celebrated in solidarity by many, the How Chill Can You Let Go EP supplemented the day's good vibes, introducing Y LUV's eclectic mixture of stadium sized, dance inducing, electro-rock to the masses.
Over a year after the release of "Never Touch The Ground," Gazzo's electrifying remix finally made its way to the public. Gazzo, having already shared the stage with industry big names such as Laidback Luke, Chris Lake and Steve Aoki, showcases his fiery talent with this new Y LUV remix. Gazzo takes the penetrating rock track and molds it into a dance inducing gem, which despite the transformation still keeps true to the feelings proposed by original track. The remix replaces the song's powerful guitar riffs with a synthesized house beat, which builds in intensity, shooting waves of energy into the atmosphere until it climaxes at the 1 minute mark and then abruptly recedes. Frontman Freddy Janney's vocals then take center stage, elevated to an untouched cosmic realm, allowing Freddy's echoes to rain down on listeners, entrancing everyone within a hearing distance. These two themes work in tandem for the remainder of the song, each claiming the spotlight while the other slides to the background, waiting eagerly for its chance to reappear. If you are ready to add some foot tapping, mood lifting music to your hump day, listen and download the track below! - Earmilk
College friendships blossoming into something more is not an uncommon beginning to a band’s back story. In fact, plenty of collegiate buddies have gone on to sell out arenas together through music. In a similarly hopeful but local vein, Y LUV may be on their way to playing together for crowds larger than any “Battle of the Bands” venues can hold. Freddy Janney, Sam Nardella, Luke Hanna and Marcello Dubaz are still enrolled in school, but we’ve got a hunch that their forthcoming debut, “How Chill Can You Let Go” (produced by Light FM‘s Josiah Mazzaschi), will pack in the punch to help spring them forward. If any other songs on the EP sound anything like “All Night,” Y LUV should be able to carry great commercial appeal yet spin pop rock songs with inventiveness that reminds us of the first time we heard Arctic Monkeys.

||| Update (April 24): For one month only, download Y LUV’s entire EP for free from their Bandcamp site.
||| Live: Y LUV plays March 28 at the Continental Room and April 13 at USC.

Bio
Y LUV is made up of Freddy Janney, Sam Nardella, and Luke Hanna. Janney and Nardella's roots go back to Boston where the duo attended elementary school together. After moving to the West Coast to study at the University of Southern California, they met up with Hanna, solidifying the band's line-up. Since forming, Y LUV has racked up some impressive tour stats playing alongside Capital Cities, Tokyo Police Club, Penguin Prison, The Knocks, The Crystal Method and Robert DeLong among others. In 2012, the band was hand-selected by fellow Voodoo performer AWOLNATION to perform live on the main stage at the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans which led to playing non-stop in 2013 with highlights including Glastonbury and Bonnaroo Festivals.
Bringing a unique sound that's been compared to U2 and Kings of Leon with a psychedelic touch, the unsigned indie outfit has accumulated over 450,000 Spotify plays on their latest single, "Driftin".
Y LUV will continue to play out this spring and summer -- check iluvyluv.com for the most up-to-date information.
