Bio
Xenia Vakova is an emerging singer-songwriter largely influenced by Regina Spektor. In 2008, she self-released 'Trans-From', which was recorded and produced by Reg McLean (The Fundamentals). Xenia has since played at The Smiling Buddha, College Street Bar, and The Silver Dollar Room, among other Toronto venues.
Xenia's secondary influences include war-era vocal jazz, her father's Russian folk covers, and 90's cuddlecore. She also very much admires the poets Lauryn Hill, John K. Samson, and Conor Oberst.
Xenia knows how to play acoustic guitar and used to be in a band called Dollhouse Pact. Xenia was born just outside Moscow, Russia. Xenia is a Printmaking major at OCAD.
