Independent record store Spiral Scratch Records will be hosting Chicago band Witch Feet on Saturday (Feb 16), alongside the Word Girls and Afterbirth Tycoon. WitchFeet plays loud, grungy indie rock that is simultaneously catchy and abrasive. The band originated in Chicago, and their line-up includes Buffalo drummer Dave Chudy. Joining them are the Word Girls, who are a newly formed local act featuring the musical abilities of Bill Behill and Cory Nealon. Originally booked at Mohawk Place, the show was rescheduled and moved to Spiral Scratch after the unfortunate closing of the aforementioned venue. The disappearance of Mohawk has left an empty space in the local music community, but Spiral Scratch Records will be filling that void with the powerful sounds of aggressive rock this weekend.

Spiral Scratch never really fails to disappoint - this time around, they're bringing the delightfully Archers of Loaf-y Witchfeet. Think driving basslines, gritty vocals, and a pop-sensibility that definitely exists even if you can't quite put your finger on it. The Afterbirth Tycoon and The Word Girls will be opening up the show for what promises to be a fun Saturday night at Spiral Scratch headquarters.
The show is at Spiral Scratch and it starts at 6:00pm. This one is all ages, kids! - Buffablog

Bio
WitchFeet is an indie rock band based out of Chicago. The band features members of All Eyes West on Jumpstart Records. WitchFeet has been compared to the likes of Superchunk, Replacements, Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Sugar, Guided by Voices, Archers of Loaf, Jawbreaker, Swervedriver, Superdrag among others.
The influence of big guitar '90s indie and alternative rock is evident in their sound. Driving rhythms supporting creative guitar work and strong vocal melodies give WitchFeet a timeless quality that transcends the narrow minded tendency of modern indie acts to fall into cookie cutter fads and flavor of the week sonics. WitchFeet is first and foremost an honest to goodness hard hitting rock 'n' roll band that writes great songs and delivers on stage.
WitchFeet recently released their debut full-length album "Art Garbage" in December 2012. The album was recorded by Ian G. and Justin M. at Studio Forty-One in Chicago and mastered by Mike Hagler (Wilco, Neko Case, Mekons). The album is available on 12" vinyl, CD, and digital download. The record was released on the band's own No Support Records imprint.
WitchFeet will be touring throughout the midwest and east coast in support of their first full-length album in late 2012 and 2013.
