Unfortunately I didn't catch all of WhosArmy's set at Lees Palace. I arrived about 10 minutes into their 30 minute set, but what a 20 minutes. Lead singer Travis Wood (why does it always rain on him?), Cory Williams on lead guitar, Max Trefler on drums and Greg Markham on bass are surprisingly mature given that they have been formed for less than 12 months. There sound is pitched somewhere between the long-lost and lamented Mansun and the ear shattering explosive Muse. There are also hints of Neil Hannon in Travis' vocal. The three tracks on their current demo, How Could I, Fingertips and When Dreaming, promise great things from their debut album which they start recording in April. Remember that you heard about them first on the Devil's site. - The Devil Has the Best Tuna

Bio
Whosarmy is an independent rock band that formed in Toronto in September 2006 when high school friends Travis Wood (Vocals) and Cory Williams (Guitars) teamed up with Max Trefler (Drums) and Greg Markham (Bass). It quickly became apparent that there was a great chemistry between the four members, who adopted Whosarmy as a full-time venture after leaving their post-secondary studies.
Whosarmy has spent much time honing their craft together, working with the likes of Lior Goldenberg (Audioslave, Alanis Morissette, Ringo Starr) Arnold Lanni (Our Lady Peace, Simple Plan, Finger Eleven) and L. Stu Young (Prince, Guns and Roses) along the way. After four years, they have arrived at a place as a band where they feel ready to make a big impact, citing Coldplay and U2 as major influences. After countless demos and working on over 100 songs, Whosarmy released their first self-titled record May 6th, 2011. The 8 song EP is armed with catchy melodies, interesting arrangements, and polished production. Whosarmy will be promoting its new record on tour this summer.
Whosarmy has an energetic and captivating live show that has won over many audiences. They have played at music festivals Candian Music Week, North by Northeast, South by Southwest and have spent some time in LA showcasing for industry. They have also shared the stage with fellow Canadian bands Mother Mother, Wintersleep, The Waking Eyes, and Mariana's Trench.
