Bio
Deep down in the south, amongst the swamp shacks of the mighty River Torrens delta, Rick Daniels, Phill Provis and David Wilcox united to cleverly blend their individual musical styles. The trio created a syrupy fusion of Aussie rock and rootsy tobacco blues in a barrel of contagious pop melodies – they call it, WHISKEY MOJO ®.
Rick leads the charge with his distinctive vocals, soulful guitar playing and award winning song-writing. Phill is the fine purveyor of luscious and velvety bottom end tone and he nurtures the groove through his classic Fender Jazz bass. David, having come via England, Scotland and Ireland, with an accent to match, has a drumming style that is both laid back and precise, setting up the big hits whilst creating space for his Whiskey Mojo brothers.
Since 2006, the band has been writing, performing, and recording their songs. They are regulars on the Adelaide circuit, playing at the ‘institutions’ of the original music scene, which also included the 2008 Adelaide Fringe. The boys were also lured to play shows in Sydney in 2007, 2008 & 2009, where they also added the finishing touches to their debut EP, ‘Sour Mash & Gravy’ - a five track taster of the bands musical offerings.
The EP has generated interest on radio in Australia, Madrid (Spain), California and o the WWW. Their track, ‘Come on baby’, was also selected for the ‘Blues Highway Volume 1’ compilation CD, presented by Hollywood based label, 272 Records.
