Bio
What's Black Is White (WBIW for short) is a NY/NJ based band of musicians from all over the musical spectrum. They're a much-needed change of pace in an industry struck by monotony. The band's name takes inspiration from the Newspeak term 'blackwhite' in George Orwell's 1984, which roughly translates to "the belief that one thing is the same as another, regardless of how different they may seem". This concept comes to life in their music, which brings elements of rock, funk and rap together seamlessly, making the word "genre" almost lose its meaning.
The group is comprised of:
lead Guitarist / backing vocalist Chris Aguayo, keyboardist / trumpet player Jon Schmarak, lead singer / rapper Will Williams, bassist Jack Garno, saxophonist / backing vocalist Doug Levin, rhythm guitarist / backing vocalist Matt Funabashi and drummer/percussionist Simon Ficken
