Bio
Whitney Hall, an American recording artist, musician and entertainer, was born June 3, 1991. Whitneys parents, her mother a professor and father a Director of the Countys Water and Sewer Department named their daughter after the late-great Whitney Houston. Whitney Hall grew up idolizing Houston as well as the powerful voices of Chaka Khan and gospel artist Karen Clark-Sheard. Whitney, as well as her siblings, was encouraged to sing in church and learn to play multiple instruments. This encouraging environment allowed her to develop a unique timbre as she learned to use her voice as her primary instrument.
CHASING THE DREAM
Due to unending support from her family, Whitney was never afraid to go after her dreams with full force. She describes herself as the ultimate extrovert: I took over the Gospel choir as the President in my upperclassmen years, she says. All while also participating in track and field and high step Marching Band. Growing up she was active in school activities that challenged and engaged her personal development and hard work paid off: Whitney earned her place on the National Honor Roll as well as the National Honor Society. Whitney later attended Appalachian State University with a focus in Criminal Justice, all while remaining focused and active on music and devoting her free time to community service. Whitney proudly states, Im a member of The order of Black and Gold, a community service organization, that has taught me to give back and always remain active in my community.
Even with multiple extracurricular activities, Whitney never forgot her devotion to singing. Whitney had her first performance as a lead vocalist in a jazz band at a jazz club in Downtown Charlotte. The experience encouraged her to want more musical success. The thought of performing for millions of fans rejuvenated Whitneys desire to pursue music professionally. Motivated by Ruben Studdards American Idol success, Whitney auditioned for the show in 2012. Though she felt a bit out of place, she soaked in the atmosphere and connected with people around her. She was not selected for the show, but the experienced provided her with even more drive to make her dreams a reality.
In late 2012, Anthony Ape Pratt of Region 32 Entertainment discovered Whitney during a random Twitter string. A few days later, Ape and Whitney connected over the phone. Recognizing her talent, Ape quickly contacted his attorney, the renowned Tabetha Plummer, Esq. to draw up a contract offer and invite Whitney to join his record label. Overjoyed, Whitney moved from North Carolina to Southern California to become the first artist to join the Region 32 Entertainment roster in December of 2012.
WHATS NEXT FOR WHITNEY
Whitney and Ape are currently working on her debut album, with the first single scheduled for a fall 2013 release. Her sound has been likened to soulful R&B artist Jazmine Sullivan. Her pop and R&B oriented songs highlight personal themes including failed relationships, letting go, confessions, personal struggles, and playing hard and letting loose. With each song, this charismatic young diva leaves everything on the table living life with no regrets. Whitneys dream is to become a household name with a timeless voice to be remembered for generations to come.
