"Ears Wide Open: We The Dreamers"

“Parasol,” the second single from We the Dreamers, is like light rain, dampening the streets in ambient melancholy until the sun breaks through the clouds. It’s the work of singer-songwriter (and photographer/painter/actor) Myke Wilken, a Chico native most recently spotted playing guitar and cello for the L.A. folk-pop outfit Valley Shine. Wilken has been working on an EP with producer Warren Huart, whom he met via the Los Angeles Songwriters Collective, and “Parasol” was written for his girlfriend at the time, who, he says, “who wasn’t so keen on the topic of choice.” He adds: “The encompassing message is to worry less and let the sun shine in.” And not to rain on anybody’s parade, Wilken himself painted the cover artwork — on a canvas atop a landscape his ex-girlfriend had painted. - Kevin Bronson • BuzzBandsLA

"We The Dreamers • Wiser"

Why do we like this?
We The Dreamers have absolutely everything going for them, down to even a very cool website.

"Wiser," is an alternative rock jam that is well-produced,
well-executed on the vocal side, and very well mixed. It's going to sound a little like Coldplay, a little like Imagine Dragons, and a lot like most of the music you and I love and definitely gravitate to.

That's because the vocals are bright when they need to be, and the beat pounds without interrupting any other elements, working around and under them instead.

Lately, I've had a lot of trouble getting well-mixed music, so maybe that's why I enjoyed this listen.

A solid jam with top 40 potential, let's see if this one moves onto the charts. - Cyrus Pavel • Indie Shuffle

"We The Dreamers • Parasol"

If you, like us, consider yourself fans of early Coldplay, this one from LA-based artist We The Dreamers is for you. Comprised of frontman Myke Wilken and guitarist Ethan Rose, “Parasol” marks the second single for the indie outfit. From the opening Chinese gong to the romantic imagery and silky vocals laced throughout, this simple and melodious piece — written for Wilken’s girlfriend at the time — is sure to send you into a blissed out state. The cover art for the dreamy track was painted by Wilken, atop a landscape that his ex-girlfriend had painted previously. Stream it below. - Poetry in an Empty Coke Can

Bio

We the Dreamers began as a solo endeavor for frontman Myke Wilken, who founded the project in 2016. Gaining traction from the release of his debut single, “Wiser”, Wilken decided to evolve the project into something bigger. After posting on a public Facebook group page for musician referrals, he connected with co-collaborator, Ethan Rose. A New York transplant, Rose found this to be an exciting opportunity to pursue his shared musical visions and goals with Wilken in the city of Angels.

A cup of hot cider and a jam session later, the two realized their undeniable music chemistry and made the decision to re-brand the project as a duo. Covering everything from the writing to the producing, engineering, and performing, We the Dreamers are a unique music partnership that combines cinematic elements with pop sensibilities.
