"Her lyrics are economical and very muscular, with rhymes often delivered in staccato couplets. The instrumentation is simple and unadorned, her evocative acoustic guitar occasionally blended with keyboards, drums or bass, the odd electric guitar flourish. Front and center is Fuller’s voice, which caresses each melody like a wrapper on candy. She manages to evoke Joni Mitchell without sounding like Mitchell, or Rickie Lee Jones without mimicking Jones. Her supple voice moves quickly and easily through a range of styles including jazz, folk and rock, often in the same song, sometimes in the same chorus. The title track exemplifies this.
