Bio
VESSEL is a Brooklyn based alternative rock band, founded by brothers Alex and Nico in 2001. Soon after they recruited their long time friend David Zakharov on bass. The band recorded an untitled 5 song EP in 2005. After a few years of gigging in NYC clubs (CBGB’s, Piano’s, Arlene’s grocery, Knitting factory etc..) The band decided to regroup and acquired Zack Rice as a second guitarist, to broaden the band's sound. Unsatisfied with their other options and inspired by a DIY work ethic, the foursome decided to build their own recording studio while continuing to rehearse, write new material and play shows in the NYC area.
On their eponymously titled second EP, Vessel continues to explore the explosive thematic range and exquisitely crafted dynamic tension that characterized their first release. Solidly anchored and vastly expansive, this EP reflects the young bands ennui of tongue in cheek posturing and slick over production to deliver an immediate, direct and intricately atmospheric album. The Brooklyn based alternative rock quartet draw from influences such as Pink Floyd, A Perfect Circle, Radiohead, Deftones, NIN, and Failure. The band's soaring vocals, exploding guitars and weighty bass lines, along with perfectly synchronized rhythmic cycles of ebb and flow, add to their incisive arsenal and ever expanding live performance, while providing much needed new portable sounds for their growing fan base.
