Up North

The heart of Milwaukee, Wisconsin introduces a new band, Up North, who blends the richness of Rock, Hip-hop and Rap into their unique sound. The band members come from all different walks of life, but share a similar musical vision after over six years of playing together in numerous different bands. Mark Yencheske (Bassist), Mario Lanza (Guitar/Vocals), and Ben Bradtke (Drums) gave birth to the northern idea while grooving in their basement on the east side of Milwaukee in July of 2010. They were attempting to fuse the intense emotion of heavy metal with the catchy melodies of pop-rock when Juston Calvert(Vocals) traveled Up North with a notebook of cleverly arranged silky words, which quickly reinforced the trios chemistry. The group began working on their debut EP "Starting Over", which stirs together heavy rock riffs, catchy singing melodies and smooth lyrical word play into a well mixed arrangement of sounds that has been catching the ears of listeners ever since it was released in December of 2010. Up North embraced 2011 by adding the creativity of Adam Otto(Guitar) and Scott McCann(Piano) to make their musical elements more diverse and to focus on playing memorable live shows. Up North is capturing the feeling of going 'up north' for vacation, family, and recreation by constantly writing through the ups and downs of life and putting that feeling into their music.
