Hold on, hasn’t January been a ridiculous month already? We’ve been discovering a great deal of new songs and artists already. Hard to believe we’ve only been going for 30 days.

So we’re about to whack another par excellence pop song in the mix; Oh Sally!

The singer behind the track, you’re about to hear is, Ulrika. Now we don’t know that much about Ulrika, apart from the fact she’s a relocated Swede, making epic pop from the States. Her journey started a good three years ago, when she released her first single Animal. Now, three years later, she’s ready to unleash that much anticipated first EP.

Bravo Ocean, the Grammy nominated composer, has been heavily involved in Ulrike’s EP. Considering this is the guy who’s previously worked with Katy Perry, Gym Class Heroes and ahem Miss Mariah Carey it’s fair to say Ulrika is destined to deliver!

The video already promises to be a huge POPtastic visual spectacle. Ulrika’s been adding three teasers on her Youtube channel (subscribe here) The most recent one can be seen below.

Ulrika's new music video Oh Sally! is an otherworldly, trippy and downright psychedelic sequence of dancing piñatas, upside down stairs -- seemingly a nod to M.C. Escher's iconic Relativity lithograph print -- and a timewarp through our very existence. Premiering exclusively on Popdust today (July 15), the clip is directed by Steven O. Pitts and hits so hard it sticks on the brain. Seriously, you may or may not experience intense emotions and images of exhilarating euphoria late at night.

"We sank our everything into the 'Oh Sally!' video. We wanted to inspire and combine all of our talents to create something fun, happy, colorful, big, and out of this world!!" the Swede shares with us of the video. While the track itself is epic-pop at its finest, her rock-edged voice blasts through the electronic production with a ferocious appetite to be heard. You'd never know she had a background in choir and classical music, but once she draws you in, you can never escape.

Not surprisingly, her talents and gorgeous features have been enlisted for Cover Girl and Gillette campaigns. Her story is only just beginning!

Meet your new favourite Swedish pop song by your new favourite Swedish pop singer. For today anyway. Ulrika and her debut single ‘Animal’.

It’s a balls-out and in-your-face number, bogged down with attitude and then lifted up again with an epic pop chorus. This is something to strut to, with intent. And it also manages to sound a little bit like turn of the century pop music – ie THE golden era of pop. The juxtaposition of sweet sensibilities and a darker attitude is further complimented in the video which you can watch below – that girl in the picture above you, getting into cage fights.

“I’m not your typical animal“

Ulrika was born and raised in Stockholm, but now lives in Atlanta GA. We don’t know much else about her, other than that she’d previously been making a name for herself on YouTube with covers of other people’s songs. She’s not one of those stories though. This is all very organic, and as far as we can tell she’s doing all this independently.

We don’t know about you, readers – but isn’t it exciting when an artist comes out with a debut single and it’s as good as this?
