Bio

Uigg was formed by Dani Dowling (ex Church/Seraphim Slaughter/Hours End) and Craig Set Jean (ex Primeval/Gravaged/Hours End) in the spring/summer of 2006. They enlisted the assistance of longtime friend Chris "Q" Gaudette (ex Spacecraft Dinner/Church) and recent acquaintance Christ "Douce" Doucette on guitar. After writing some material they came across Ryan "Halestorm" Hale (ex Upon the Ashes/Struck a Nerve - Regina, SK.) to complete the quintet. After 3 years in the Uigg fold, Craig St. Jean moved on to pursue other career opportunities, and was replaced in September 2009 by Derrick Doucette (ex Primecal/Seraphim Slauger/Unhallowed Existence).

Drawing inspiration heavily from thrash, death metal, black metal, They've developed an aggressive sound which clearly separates them from other heavy bands in the area. they released their crushing debut full length "To Punish and Enslave" through Diminished Fifth Records in late 2008. The material on the debut was raw, heavy and bursting with energy. When paired with one of the most intense live shows in the Maritimes, Uigg has become an experience that few have words for, but then again broken bones and busted lips can usually speak for themselves.

Uigg recorded and produced Of Moose and Men throughout 2010 and 2011; beginning with recording the drum tracks in the spring with Nick Tipe at Song Tree Studios in Tea Hill, PEI. The rest of the material was recorded in the band members's homes over the summer, fall, winter and following spring. The material on the album is generally more cohesive and over all more "Uigg" sounding than the debut, with the band really working on defining their sound and style from the elements and influences that were more scattered previously. Vocals are more natural, the guitars are heavier, the bass is more prominent and punchy, and the drums are technical and inspired. Metal fans who like to bang their heads to something that they will remember and come back to later should definitely check Uigg out.
