"Two Headed Dog"

The Two Headed Dog Band came about being in this issue by pure decibels. I was walking to Sidebar when I heard the deep dark melodic sound of a seemingly indecipherable Sabbath song. The muted music permeated the block, I had to see what this was about. Down in the bottom of the Down Under was a throng of crazed beer spillin’ rowdies rockin’ in a semi-mosh to Two Headed Dog. I watched soberly as the band went on with one after another cool original tunes. Every one of them screaming Sabbath but yet still original. It’s not a tribute or anything, there are other influences showing through, The Doors for one, I even get old Motley Crue in it to. It’s got a punk vibe at times to boot.
First thing I noticed when I started watching was that Singer Victor Valentino was feeling much like Morrison in his prime on this night. He was so in the vibe, he didn’t even notice the crowd. Once he mumbled “Thanks man, for... if anyone’s paying attention.” Attention? A 600lb nude fat man walking at the mall lighting fireworks would not get more attention than these guys. I loved it all, the “What’s he gonna do next... fall and puke, no wait... he’s ok... he’s tearing it up... he’s awesome...” performance from front-man Vic. Chad Harwicks (Three Shams) bad ass Black Sabbath bass melodies rock. The savage yet seemingly effortless guitar work by beatnic looking Ross Nola (The Virgins) rock. Lest not forget the million calorie burning work out by drummer Keith Fox (Three Shams) putting the punch in it all on his retro low slung jazz style kit. He also rocks. I haven’t seen these boys in their other bands but I will bother to now.
You can check out their music online (myspace.com/twoheadeddog666) they have several tunes (I’m Feelin’ Weird, Bastard & Behind Bloodshot Eyes) on their myspace that are all great songs, not to mention great originals. I love the old/new vibe, I’ll play them around for a while for sure. It’s like listening to a new “old” Sabbath record with all the screaming edge and minor key melodies to go with it. The live show’s energy cannot be contained on an mp3 file though. That you have to feel for yourself. It’s dirty & dark, raw and righteous. All I can say is bring lots of drinking money and hold on. It’s gonna’ be a late night (if you’re lucky).
The current schedule is Mar. 12th-MOTR, Mar. 31st-The Mad Hatter, May 21st-Mayday. I’m going to personally see to adding to that list as well. These guys rock.

Bio

Two Headed Dog's sound reaches back to the early 70's style psychedelic blues rock of England, influences include Black Sabbath, Parish Hall, and Blue Cheer. The band formed in 2010, bringing together Vocalist, Victor Valentino, and Guitar Player, Ross Dolan, from The Virgins and Drummer, Keith Fox, and Bass Player, Chad Hardwick from Thee Shams. Two Headed Dog is currently working on their debut album, which was recorded at Brian Olive's studio direct to Analog tape. Just another bunch of beatniks out to make it rich.
