Bio
Turtle Moon formed in Omaha, NE, in early 1993 and consists of Scott Jochim (vocals, guitar), Dan Dwyer (lead guitar, vocals), Scott Hedrick (bass), and Pat Rejda (drums). Turtle Moon’s music has a great variety of influences which include pop, blues, rock and country, which combine to form this bands unique and refreshing sound. The strength of the band is in its heartfelt and honest lyrics. They combine lyrics and melody with a driving rhythm and musical emotion. The band’s first recorded CD was done at the now defunct Eclipse Studios. The original intent of the two day session was to produce 100 tapes for friends and family but eventually was produced in mass quantities as demand grew. Only a few copies of this first CD titled Higher Orbit still exist. The recording at Eclipse Studios turned out to be a positive step for the band. Turtle Moon began to appear on a series of compilation CD’s including Live in the Heart, which features the song Individually, Born in a Barn and Capitol Light Mix, featuring the songs Doormat and The Only One. Turtle Moon began to gain regular airplay on local radio shows led by the popular single Third Grade Song. Turtle Moon had a large local following by the time its second CD was released in 1995 at a sold out release party. Selling over 200 copies that night, it was evident that Turtle Moon had made an impression in the Omaha area with their release titled Water. The band split in early 1998 leaving behind a large number of fans across the Midwest. The four college graduates became renewed and refreshed after a year and a half away from the band and are coming back stronger than before. After recording a demo in late 2000, Turtle Moon completed and released their 3rd full length CD entitled juneau in mid-2002. Since recording Juneau, Turtle Moon has played shows in and around Omaha. Although the shear number of shows has decreased, the passion and love of performing hasn’t. The band incorporated a personality of not taking themselves too seriously into their act and therefore can relate well to a crowd. Turtle Moon is out to have some fun, and hopes to bring the listener along for the ride.
