Bio
Mambos, Cha cha, Rumba--very danceable music by this combo Formed in August 2003 by conguero Alberto Nacif and sax/flutist Paul VornHagen, Tumbao Bravo has performed in all the major jazz and music festivals and nightclubs in Michigan. In 2005, their first recording "Montuno Salad" won the Detroit Music Award for Best jazz Cd. In 2007, their 2nd Cd, Amigos: From Our Hands, won for the Best World Music CD. Influenced by cuban jazz groups, most of the combos songs are written by band members-- creating a sound uniquely their own-- and have been played on all the major Latin Jazz radio stations in the U. S. including Miami, Fl, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and New York. In 2009, their 3rd Cd, Un Systema Para Todo, received rave reviews in the April LATIN BEAT magazine and the title cut was aired on the USA Network TV series, BURN NOTICE. This Cd also was nominated in three categories for the Detroit Music Awards. An exciting, colorful presentation perfect for music festivals, concerts in the park and nightclubs, this band loves an audience.
