The Latin jazz rhythms on this disc are as rich and harmonically pleasing as you will find on any of the Latin genre Cds produced this year. Tumbao Bravo can rumba, cha cha cha and play jazzy salsa with the best of them. - EjazzNews
Some of the best material on " Amigos" has an intelligence to it that is able to create a warm, mellow feel without turning saccharine--something not easy to pull off...it's all good, totally enjoyable stuff. -- Editor's Pick 2007 - Descarga.com
Strong compositions, room for heated solos and a tight combo sound...emphasis on the Cuban roots they put down...celebrating the release of their second CD at Baker's Keyboard lounge---Eve Doster Juhne 2007 - Metro Times
The group's new Cd, Un Systema Para Todo, features new compositions from Nacif, Vornhagen, Mojica, Prouty and Reynoso...this record really shows the breadth of the groups' talents. It's a real showcase for the soloists.. Ann Arbor News August 2008 - Ann Arbor News

Bio
Formed in 2003 by conga player Alberto Nacif and reedman Paul VornHagen, with an all star lineup of Detroit/Ann Arbor area latin and jazz players to compose original music with cuban influences. Winner of two Detroit Music awards in the jazz and world music categories, this combo has performed at all the major music festivals in Michigan and has had their CD recordings played on all the top Latin/Jazz music programs nationwide. Tight, hot arrangements--very listenable, danceable and completely original. In addition to their own compositions, the band also performs songs by Mongo Santamaria, Orlando Vega, Tito Puente, Pancho Sanchez and Paquito D'Rivera.
