Bio
When Travis McClung belts out a tune, the richness of his voice draws you in and beckons you to listen for a while. It's a sound that does not disappoint; he's a natural singer who, at 20, has been perfecting his pipes since he was 4 years old in his hometown of Dallas.
His debut single, "Hiccup," speaks to the inevitable relationship woes and the ability to overcome them with acceptance and forgiveness. The track was produced by industry veteran Rick Steel, who's worked with artists like Jay Sean, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke, and the lyrics were penned by Nasri Atweh who's also written for celebs like Chris Brown and Justin Beiber.
With Travis' music, fans will get lyrics that are driven by acoustic melodies and pop/rock rhythms. There's a beauty to the simplicity that drives his creativity. In his mid-tempo pop groove, "For Better," he croons about his lady love's permanent place in his heart.
His sister, Neill Skylar, was featured on Bravo’s "Most Eligible Dallas" and he credits her with being his early inspiration to be a performer. With roots in the Baptist church, as a youngster Travis and his sister would enthrall the congregation with their heartfelt duets. Travis was also the child his grandmother would call on to entertain friends and relatives. Not one to shy away even when put on the spot, Travis began to enjoy the undivided attention and accolades, thus priming him for his turn in the spotlight.
They say everything is big in Texas and Travis has the smile and the talent to back that up. Behind the bright grin and boyish good looks is a young man focused on turning his love for music into a treasure trove of grooves for a wide audience to get hooked on.
The son of entrepreneurial parents, Travis has relocated to New York City to pursue his dream of singing and performing live to a diverse audience.
His musical influences range from John Legend to Gavin Degraw to Rufus Wainwright to Christina Aguilera. Already he's developing a fan base that spans the pre-teen girls at the schools on his tour, to the middle-age women who chaperone them. He puts his heart into soulful covers like "Stand By Me" and shows his versatility and raw talent when paired with an acoustic guitar.
Travis McClung, backed by a powerhouse team of producers and management, is coming for the charts with an arsenal of ballads, danceable pop tunes and some country-flavored rock. He's breaking ground and he's ready to do big things … just like they do in Texas.
