Like any true artist, I would assume when Traverser set out to create music, they did it for themselves, and not to fit into some cookie cutter mold of what music should be. In their efforts which began in 2004, David Medairos (guitars/vocals), Robert Spence (bass guitar) and David Shaw (drums) have created something that latches on to your soul like the tentacles of an Architeuthis latching on to it's prey. With an intensity that is enthralling, this three piece progressive/alternative rock band brings the listener on a journey through their own conscience, stirring up emotions about how we affect and effect one another and the world around us.
In my opinion, one of the best bands in the Central Florida area, Traverser is far superior in their capacity to entertain with the pure truth of their music than most bands I have ever heard or seen live, and that is across the board whether it's a local band or a band that is known world wide. If you were to mix the vocal talents of Geoff Tate(Queensrÿche) Maynard James Keenan (Tool - A Perfect Circle) and Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction) you would be pretty close to songster Medairos. Lyrically, Traverser forces you to think and see beyond the limits of what you once thought you knew. Bewildering guitar sounds that your eyes tell you come from only one man, yet your ears are convinced your eyes lie. Bass lines that allow you to truly know what ownership of one's craft means, entwining sustenance into every song with each note. Drums that beat with precise execution forcing an all encompassing sound powerful enough to alter your very heartbeat.

Traverser opens the floodgates of creative, intense and contemplative progressive/alternative rock on unsuspecting audiences at every performance. Formed in 2004 by David Medairos (guitars/vocals), Robert Spence (bass guitar) and David Shaw (drums), three friends imagined a style of music that carried true and honest weight both in concept and execution. Invoking influences ranging from Bjork to Meshuggah, classical music, metal and jazz to Tool, they craft a patchwork of emotions and moods into a sprawling landscape of thought provoking music. Songs demand the listener to pay attention from beginning to end, as they often twist off in unexpected directions or odd/even meter shifts mid-song. Vocals imply apocalyptic visions, introverted self analysis and an almost alien perspective of what it means to be human, or to exist at all. Crushing and epic at one moment, eerily sweet and liquid the next, Traverser stands poised to prove that thoughtful people will support and understand thoughtful music, and that current musical trends and formulas stand only to be disassembled.
