Bio
Torn Asunder has had more success to date then most Australian metal bands have in their lifetime. This five-piece band from Queensland’s Gold Coast formed in 2006 and is fast gaining the reputation of a ‘creatively charged emerging artist’, according to The Gold Coast Bulletin.
“With their energetic live performance, brutal distorted yelling to crystal clean melodies and their award-nominated song writing skills, this band’s unique style sees a promising future” - Rave magazine
In Early 2007 vocalist Locky Paul joined the band after 5 yrs of experience in hardcore band Re-Invention. Achieving a position in the top 150 of the 2005 Australian Idol , Locky’s knowledge, skills and ability became quickly apparent. The bands first live performance with the new frontman saw them qualify for the Jim Beam ‘Queensland Rock Competition’, where they took out the runner up position a few weeks later.
Torn Asunder went on to record what would become their debut EP “The Unleashing”, which was released independently later that year and also features a live 3 track DVD. The opening track ‘Elements’ was also nominated for Queensland’s Music Awards finishing in the states top four songs. Other songs from the album regularly receive air play on various radio programs across the country and internationally.
Late 2007 also saw the band nominated into the top 5 artists in the country for the metal/hardcore category at the annual MusicOz Awards held in Sydney. This led to the band featuring on Channel V during the telecast of the awards night, granting them national recognition.
Torn Asunder have shared the stage with acts such as Sunk Loto, Wish for Wings, Five Star Prison Cell, Lynchmada, Frankenbok, The Amity Affliction, and many other local acts throughout the year, as well as supporting international acts Cold By Winter, In Dread Response and Sixlip. Torn Asunder have played over 30 shows to date throughout QLD and was named as ‘One of Queensland’s hardest working bands’ in a recent radio interview.
With national tours planned, music festivals, possible international supports, the release of their first album, as well as talks of international shows, be prepared to see Torn Asunder unleash absolute chaos in 2008.
