One of the many cool things about the indie music “world” is that it provides a safe haven where artists from different musical backgrounds can find commonality. It is a place that lies beyond the reach of the long arm of corporate radio. A place where lads and lasses can truly express themselves and create some incredible music. Where else but the indie world would a band consisting of a drummer with jam band roots, a guitarist with an affinity for British rock and jazz, a bass player that likes to get his groove on and a vocalist with more influences than..Nascar has sponsors.. be able to pool their collective talents? While the aforementioned may sound like the cast from the Land of Misfit Toys, they most certainly are not. The band of which I opine is Arlington, VA’s Tieweb and their latest studio offering, Indier Than Thou, is a true indie gem. channels their collective talents enroute to crafting an unique indie rock experience that hearkens back to the glory days of REM, Grapes of Wrath and the like, coupled with an air of contemporary relevance. Dig it. - Drago - Frog Licks
Virginia-based Tieweb, featuring Justin Fazzari on vocals & guitar, Chris Aylward on bass & vox, Eric Bayles on lead guitar, and Steve Quesenberry on drums, claims to be putting the "die" in indie rock. Their latest effort, "Indier Than Thou", recorded by Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) award-winning producer Marco Delmar, is a sonic treat that defies genre classification. The combination of tightly crafted melodies and avant-garde lead guitar creates an album that you can instantly sing along with after the first listen. The mix between electric rock songs and acoustic, slightly alt-country songs reveals a dynamic sound and presents a fresh experience with every listen.
Tieweb hastens to engage the listener right away with the rousing rocker, "Way Out", and follows it up with the vastly different but equally likable track called "Fade". They saved my favorite track for last...another peppy acoustic-driven gem called "Baby Don't Cry". Definitely the most accessible and catchy track on "Indier Than Thou", "Baby Don't Cry" is a perfect summer charmer. Overall, Tieweb is refreshing and innovative indie pop, and they weave some tangled, albeit interesting melodies along the way.
The CD art claims to make you "hipper" by listening to this music. I must admit that I do indeed feel cooler driving down the road with Tieweb blasting out of the speakers. "Indier Than Thou" is for fans of Frank Black/Pixies, Spoon, and Thee Makeout Party. - Bill's Music Forum
"Tieweb redefine alternative rock by bringing it back to its roots. While a number of English and American bands have been resurrecting 80's post-punk sounds the past few years, most of them are mining the same angular-riffed Gang of Four territory. Tieweb, on the other hand, echo the psychedelic fixations of their mid-80's college-radio ancestors." - Whisperin & Hollerin (UK)

What do you get when you combine a drummer who played in a Phish tribute band, a lead guitarist obsessed with heady British rock and jazz chords, a bassist who loves the grove that makes you move, and a singer with influences ranging from southern to roots to alt rock?
Answer: The most eccentric band on the planet: Tieweb
Combining vast influences ranging from Herbie Hancock to The Pixies, Tieweb fuses memorable melodies with danceable grooves and soaring guitar riffs to create a unique indie-rock sound.
The Virginia based band was founded in 2004 by singer/guitarist Justin Fazzari and lead guitarist Eric Bayles. Tieweb solidified its cast with the addition of rock/jazz drummer Steve Quesenberry and bassist Chris Aylward in 2005. Tieweb released its first EP Setting the Sun in 2006. Its debut full-length album, Indier Than Thou, recorded by Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) award-winning producer Marco Delmar, was released in 2009. The combination of tightly crafted melodies and avant-garde lead guitar creates an album that you can instantly sing along with after the first listen. The mix between electric rock songs and acoustic, slightly alt-country songs reveals a dynamic sound and presents a fresh experience with every listen.
Tieweb was voted one of DC’s hottest 5 bands in the 2009 DC Metromix Battle of the Bands held at the Hard Rock Cafe. This also included an on-air performance on WUSA*9 (CBS). Tieweb also won the Battle of the Bands at Four Courts in Arlington and then played St. Patrick's Day 2009. In 2010, the band played during South by Southwest at the MusicGorilla Fest in Downtown Austin, TX and performed two weekend sets at Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA.
