The Wurly Birds are a Rock/Soul group from Oklahoma City. Formed by a recording project in 2010 by Taylor Johnson, it soon became evident that taking the music outside of the studio was imminent. The Wurly Birds have released 3 albums as of 2013, starting with the self-titled debut in 2010, to "Turns" released in 2011, and most recently "Mulberry Huff" in 2013. Influences are all over the board, but most commonly referred to as if Ray Davies took Otis Redding out to a steak dinner in New Orleans. 5 members make up The Wurly Birds. Live instrumentation is pretty straight forward: Guitars, Hammond organ, piano, bass, drums, and vocals.
The Wurly Birds tour several times throughout the year. 2013 saw tours from the west coast through the deep south. The Wurly Birds are a band that prides themselves on solid songwriting, tasteful instrument tones and arrangements that anyone can respect, well-written lyrics, and melodies you aren't going to forget anytime soon.
