Bio
Steeped in classic power pop influences and drawing from arena rock guitar riffs, New York City’s The Whims fuse catchy, hook-heavy melodies with gritty garage rock swagger. Originally formed by singers/guitarists Dileepan Ganesan & Fletcher Maumus in New York City, the quartet was completed with the addition of bassist/vocalist Matt Stupp & singer/drummer Michael McGivaren.
Their self-titled debut LP (released January 2013) is already creating waves in the power pop community -- with heavy rotation on WROM's Powerpop Stew and festival appearances at Powerpopalicious (curated by Paul Collins of pop-punk legends The Nerves and The Beat), David Bash's continent-spanning International Pop Overthrow, and Little Steven's favorite, Cavestomp! The Whims are ringing in a year that will bring their spirited live set to regions throughout the US.
