Bio
Formed by Terri Moeller (Walkabouts) and Paul Austin (Willard Grant Conspiracy) as a recording project in 2002, the Transmissionary Six have grown into an international touring band that have made five CDs. The fifth will be released on March 11, 2008, on Tarnished Records (USA) and Glitterhouse (Europe). The band has received extensive airplay both locally (currently #14 on KEXP variety charts) and worldwide, and have played in 15 countries, including national radio broadcasts in the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovenia. Influenced by bands/songwriters such as American Music Club, Swell, Low, Ida and John Cale, the Transmissionary Six combine moody female vocals with a lush, pedal-steel flavored backdrop that is a sort of postmodern roots music.
We also provided the music for an international Doctors Without Borders fundraising campaign in 2005 that included television and theater spots.
