The Smoke Rings

We are a fun-loving group of people who have given their lives over to music. We love having an audience and surprising people with fresh versions of old jazz standards as well as some original pieces inspired by Tin Pan Alley.

Sarah King sings and plays the ukulele on a number of songs as well. Her style evokes the old recordings of the 30s and 40s, but her interpretations of the songs is entirely her own.

Alex Levin is the pianist and musical director. His playing has been compared to great jazz pianists including Bill Evans, Ahmad Jamal and Red Garland, and his rollicking style keeps feet tapping and fingers snapping.

Ben Cliness plays upright bass and, when the band expands to a quartet, plays the drums.

Scott Ritchie plays bass in the quartet configuration. Scott is an acknowledged master of his instrument, and recently performed with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga as part of their Thanksgiving special on ABC.
