Bio
I have played cocktail jazz in classy restaurants, boogie woogie in smoky dives, old time country in rural fire halls, electric blues in Austin roadhouses, and original rock and roll at Keystone Berkeley, among other styles and venues. Just for a kicker, I studied jazz piano in San Francisco with Wilbert Baranco, a jazz master who played with Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Johnny Otis, and Cab Calloway. He discovered Charles Mingus and arranged, composed, and conducted soundtrack music during Hollywood’s Golden Age. Also, I studied classical music with Julliard-educated Harold Evans, who studied in Paris with the legendary Nadia Boulanger, who studied with Faure, who studied with Niedermeyer, who studied with Moscheles, who worked with Beethoven, putting me approximately 6 degrees of separation from Beethoven.
