Montreal based Alternative Rock band The Nolas had been catching a lot of positive buzz about their self titled debut album. The two singles of the album have earned them radio play on many different Canadian outlets, as well as CBC radio 3. They are also ranked number 1 in Canada for Alternative Rock artists on Reverbnation.
The album is a 6 track offering of what’s been described as “Power Pop Rock” or “Surf Rock”. It opens with the single “So Fine”. Their sound automatically gave me the feeling of a modern twist on a very 70’s sound. It’s an extremely refreshing listen in an industry where it’s getting harder and harder to be original, or unique. The Nolas not only set themselves apart from the “norm”, but do it beautifully. The album closes with a song called “Picket Fences”. The track had me very much reminded of classic British punk like The Clash. It was the perfect way to end the album.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed The Nolas, and would recommend them to anyone that enjoys Alternative Rock. The Nolas are sure to be gaining more and more momentum with their raw talent and groovy tracks. Keep your eyes on them in 2016, these guys are going to go far.

The Hit List: 20 Demos, Albums and EP’s You Need to Hear Right Now — December 14, 2015
Posted on December 14, 2015
Even on a day when I’m sick in bed, can’t stop looking for and listening to some amazing music from the independent world. A lot of revisiting here, plus some new artists to check out! As always, albums are in no particular order, so hit them all up when you have a moment! - Adam Marx
From the very moment that this video opens it has a solid sense of refinement coursing through. There is an accentuated drop in the tempo that seems to seize upon an adulated Americana styling that gives it a formidable sense of flair. Adding to the black and white apparel of how it is all shot there is a mindful showing to everything. As the direction of the video plays out the femme fatale qualities on show offer a lot. This seems to adhere to a Lynchian influence that gets under the monotone feel of the video in a refined way. It seems to carry weight but there is also a sense of release to how it all comes across that gets with the approach as much as the pick-up in the tempo seems to back the showing. With how that all comes together the artistry connects well with the viewer.
