Washington, D.C. may be known as the epicenter for democracy, freedom, and all things American… but music? The Morrison Brothers Band looks to change that. Brothers Truman and Willie Morrison formed the band, creating a fusion of southern rock and country. This summer they will release their third studio album, “State of the Union” To celebrate, they’ll be putting on a show at the legendary 9:30 Club.
“We have Paul Pfau and Jenny Lee, two extremely talented local artists, opening for us… The show on July 11th will be our CD release party, where we will be debuting a number of our new original tunes… we could not be prouder of the product, and are really looking forward to seeing the reaction from our fans,” Willie said.
Gearing up for a summer of gigs around the East Coast, including opening for Tim McGraw and the Spin Doctors, the 9:30 Club performance promises a great preview of the band’s new work. Drawing inspiration from the Black Crowes, John Mayer, and Zac Brown Band, it’s set to be a packed house.
For the most up to date information on the show, follow the band on Facebook and Twitter and check back with Sweet Lemon for their single’s music video debut of “Little Miss Whiskey”. - Sweet Lemon Magazine

Homegrown handsomes the Morrison Brothers Band have released a new video for their single, Little Miss Whiskey. We all know Willie Morrison's voice sounds like butter melting on a hot biscuit, so watch the video and try not to get jealous of the Maxim model that is dancing all over him (and yes, those are Mason Inn's tables she is grinding him against). Catch them on July 4 at Red, White and Boom or at their CD release party on July 11 at 9:30 Club. - Guest of a Guest

The Morrison Brothers Band brings Nashville to the Big Apple by-way-of-Washington this weekend. The band joins jazz legend Wynton Marsalis at Lincoln Center on Saturday for an invitation-only performance. But the public can check them out on Friday at 10:30 p.m. at the Living Room on the Lower East Side. It's their sixth show in Manhattan, but their soulful Southern rock sound remains the same.
It's a sound that has made a name for the band in their hometown, Washington, DC. Since brothers Willie and Truman Morrison joined forces with fellow brothers Matt and Kevin Nolan in 2008, they've released three full length albums, and conquered every premier venue in the capital city. In July, they returned to Washington's 9:30 Club, ranked #1 on Rolling Stone's list of "The Best Big Rooms in America," to premiere their latest album, "State of the Union." The album's first single "Little Miss Whiskey" is receiving extensive air play on DC's top country station, WMZQ 98.7 FM.
But the two sets of brothers aren't alone -- former Nashville Star contestant Alyson Gilbert holds her own on the microphone, and fills the room with sultry, Southern vocals. Adding multi-instrumentalist Dave Benson to the fold in 2012, the band's sound is captivating an ever-growing audience of fans.

It’s really hard to find anyone these days who aren’t talking about “boys trying to touch my junk, junk,” or “This is why I’m hot. I’m ‘cause you’re not”. I mean truly, lyrics don’t get much better than that. The caliber of musicality today’s artists have is … well, pathetic.
The Morrison Brothers Band, however, delivers lyrics backed by strong guitar riffs and arrangements you wouldn’t expect from two twenty-something boys. Their debut LP, “Midnight in Virginia,” holds a gamut of songs, from potential top 40 singer/ songwriter hits to more serious subject matter wonderfully composed into lyrical poetry.
You can tell which of their songs were written in yesteryear due to some clichés, like the lyrics in the syrupy sweet love song “Together,” but the ragged southern rock feel of “Georgia Country” and “The Best Thing” showcase the progress they’ve made since starting the band and their true potential as a southern- rock or country band.
On top of the lyrical power, they have a composition of catchy choruses and lines, making the album perfect for long car rides or back porches on a summer night.
It’s as if Van Morrison, O.A.R., and the Eagles had a baby, it would be a hybrid of Willie and Truman Morrison. With Willie on main vocals and Truman on guitar, the brothers have hit the D.C. and L.A. music scenes with far more than a substantial start. Their music is available on iTunes and their MySpace page. - The Picket

Farming the fertile soil between mainstream country and southern rock music, The Morrison Brothers Band has the pedal to the metal in support of their new Self-Titled EP (produced by Maggie Rose). Initially brought to Nashville under the management of Dallas Davidson's Play It Again Records, the group left their hometown of Washington D.C. for Nashville in 2015. They continue to tour the U.S. on their own, in addition to opening for some of the biggest names in country music. With an authentic sound and avid fan base, the group is poised to leap to the next level as one of country music's most exciting new bands.
