Bio
Formed in the autumn of 2007, The Morning Orchestra are fast becoming favourites of the Brighton scene, entertaining crowds with their high energy live shows and perfectly crafted pop tunes.
The Morning Orchestra began as the brainchild of Richard Jones (Guitar) and David Yeoman (Keys & Lead Vocals). After writing together throughout their teenage years, the boys from Sheffield moved to Brighton in the summer of 2007 to develop their “Carnival Pop” sound.
Following a series of initial acoustic shows they soon recruited Andrew Stuart-Buttle (Bass Guitar) and Pete ‘The Beat’ Rundle (Drums). After several months locked away in their basement studio demoing songs, they burst out onto the local scene. Their energetic live performances and quirky sing along songs are attracting a fast growing fan base.
To date they have played with “Levy” (One Little Indian) and “Young Galaxy” (Arts & Crafts) amongst others. They have also played a series of successful headline shows around The South-East and a one off show in Amsterdam.
The boys have just finished putting the final touches on their debut four-track E.P. “Lucky Star”, recorded with drummer/producer Martin Wright (Ronnie Wood, Mick Jagger, Natalie Imbruglia) at the newly installed studio at the Concorde 2 music venue. During these sessions the band tracked another eight full songs, which are ready to be completed in the next few months.
Our influences include: The Coral, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Alphabeat, Fleetwood Mac (Rumours), Dire Straits, Elvis, The Band, Mr David Viner, The Rat Pack, Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon, Beatles, Van Morrison, Dexy's Midnight Runners, The Beach Boys....and many more.
