The energetic rock and roll band, The Missing, is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Christopher Marinin, formally of touring acts Who Killed Marilyn? and Dead Even. Playing with his first bands, Marinin gradually began to see the music scene as fake and lacking some real and genuine qualities. With his discontent as a catalyst, Marinin started The Missing as an acoustic solo project in December 2007 to make music that was real and true. Drawing influences from such bands as City and Colour, Poison the Well, and the legendary Johnny Cash, Marinin released 300 pressings of original Missing songs on the CD, “Dracula.” This now sold-out CD was a combination of acoustic and electronic sounds.
In early 2008, Chris again decided to change the focus of the music towards more of a Rock and Roll sound. To achieve the sound he wanted he recruited some old friends from his earlier band, Who Killed Marilyn: Josh Wozny on drums, Bryan Hlucky on guitar and Rick Ksiazka on bass. After playing some underground shows, it was time for another change when Jimmy Zupatic took over on drums.
Entering his last year of college, Marinin decided it was time to put out an album of the songs that The Missing had been playing live. “From Ohio to the Grave” was recorded and released in March of 2009, on Marinin’s own Ghost Laboratories label. Following an 11-date tour of Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania and the release of their album, The Missing played shows with the like of The Donnas, Punchline, The Ataris, and The 69 Eyes, just to name a few. Again fine-tuning the group in April 2009, Elliot Barry took over on guitar and in June of 2009 Chad Martin took over on drums.
“From Ohio to the Grave” got rave reviews from editors and musicians alike. As a result, the album got the attention of Tom Shaffner, a RIAA Gold Engineer of Galahad Studios. Tom invited the band to track their first worldwide release “At Midnight” which was released April 2010.
The Missing then toured regionally in support of the EP and have started recording demos for their first full length record based on the positive response of the EP. Steve Soboslai of Punchline has agree to pre-produce the record at Innovation Studios in Steubenville, Ohio.
In July 2010, The Missing was selected as "Best Original Band" on a nationally syndicated Clear Channel Radio show "Rover's Morning Glory." Winning the honor allowed them to perform at the annual "Roverfest" which boats 10,000 in attendance. Their set was cut short however in a legendary rainstorm which has been documented on Youtube and several other sites.
With Marinin’s musical vision and drive for authenticity, concertgoers are guaranteed an honest, heart-felt, energy-filled performance each and every time.
