“Brian Jensen of Darling Don't Jump - "The Last Look — we played with these cats recently and I thought they killed it with a great sound and stage energy."” - Salt Lake Tribune
“Headlining the night was The Last Look. I had heard a lot of rumors about the high-quality shows these guys have been putting on, so I expected a lot and was honestly blown away. They took the stage to an epic intro of synthesizers, guitar and drums, and didn't let up once all night. The energy was massive and even at Bar Deluxe, a venue known for great sound, it sounded like a huge arena. These guys write and perform like pros. They offer hook upon hook of pure gold. They perch perfectly on the line where they can appeal to both young and old audiences. They have honed a sound that pairs the best of alt. country indie rock with emo passion. The verses of each song have more sugary sweetness than the choruses of most bands and are placed like cherries on top of ice cream. Women were melting left and right all night long. I know I probably sound like I'm exaggerating, but you really have to see these guys. They perform often, so go see them soon. ”

"It’s nothing like when it began!” says/sings Paulie Godbout quoting one of his heroes, Paul Westerburg. The sentiment rings true with the three founding members of Salt Lake City’s The Last Look. “We’ve always been big fans of The Replacements,” says singer and guitarist Godbout, “and over the last few years this has inadvertently become our mantra,” he says laughingly. Along with Dago Marino on bass and Josh Tomlin on drums, the trio has been in a constant metamorphosis during the tenure of their career. “This band started as three friends making honest music and along the way we’ve invited anyone who wants to join to come along for the ride." The latest cohort being The Lovely Allison Martin on keys.
“We’ve been through a lot; seen a lot; grown up a lot; learned a lot; drank a lot; suffered a lot; loved a lot; tried a lot; failed a lot; lost a lot; found a lot; everything that’s ever been a part of any great story,” says Godbout. “All my favorite songs and favorite books are ‘epic’ in some way. It’s only fitting that our story should be epic and contains all the same elements.”
Epic is the first and boring is the last word you would ever use to describe TLL’s live show. “Bards, banter, and bruises, baby!” say Godbout. With the addition of Martin the life and depth of the band’s sound has never been more captivating and diverse. Godbout explains “making music is like being in love; if you aren’t always doing new things and spicing up the routines then both you and the one you want to woo get bored.”
When asked what was next for the band Godbout fittingly replied “I don’t know. But you’re welcome to come along and find out..."
