Bio
The Jugtown Pirates are a San Francisco Bay area based band with origins out of Burlington(Lake Champlain), Vermont. The original jug band line up toured across the country in their veggie oil school bus,Rusty. The tour turned fateful when Rusty broke down in Humboldt Co.,CA and most of the band went their separate ways, but the heart kept beating and Paul Mendlesohn Girouard and Tobias Sanchez-Mahan decided that hitchhiking as a guitar and mandolin duo to honor their remaining committed dates was the best thing to do. Upon their return, the two decided on settling into the San Francisco bay area and immediately the magic between the two attracted Zack Brough on bass and a natural community of support that now creates The Jugtown Pirates. The recent birth of the electric band adds Johnny Shaheri on keys and Pete Devine on drums. They play a multitude of genres including bluegrass, gypsy jazz, ragtime, blues, ballads, classical, psychedelic, and straight up rock and roll. The Pirates' unique high-energy, quality musicianship, and three-four part harmonies have attracted a growing fan base each and every time they perform. Sharing a night with Jugtown is always a unique, high vibration experience of their multi-faceted musical creation and the celebration of community. Join them and become part of an American tradition; the growth of a revolutionary culture of acoustic, roots, feel good, throw off your shoes and loosen your knees kind of music. Remember, the first letter of Revolution is.......ARRGGHHH!......
