Bio
The J Directorate is a group of musicians in New York City; though they never knew each other until they moved out to the Big Apple, it turns out they all grew up in the same small patch of desert in Washington state. Fate!
Influenced by everything from punk to classical guitar, The J Directorate defies genre. Their latest EP "The J Directorate Attacks" craftily melds together blues, funk, gospel and folk. Anchored by the powerful, soulful vocals of Jillian Haynal, guitarist/synthesist Jesse Jensen pushes his instruments in different directions, always looking for a new hook to insert into a genre. The result is a pleasurably unique listening experience.
They're in the midst of playing shows across NYC and recording their second EP, which promises to showcase an even wider variety of musical influences.
