My comments this issue are going to center around a band that I was introduced to through a compilation sampler CD called “The After After Party!” The CD is sponsored by McDonalds and Coca Cola and is available nationwide. I was given a copy of this release at the Urban Network Entertainment Conference that I attended back in late March. One of the groups that have a song on this release is called The James Douglass Show. Yep that’s their name. My goodness, one of the best independent groups I have heard in a while. Great original songs and an entertaining “live” show to boot. The CD sampler is free to anyone who takes the time to order it. To get your FREE copy, all you have to do is go to TheAfterAfterParty.com, fill out the online form and yes, they will send a copy to you for as long as supplies last. Or, you can listen to the A Funk Above The Rest Music Show on jazz89 KUVO 89.3 from 11:00 PM – 1:00 AM for a chance to receive a free copy as well. I also highly recommend that you check out the band at the URL below - these guys know how to SPANK!

The JDS (The James Douglas Show)
Albuquerque-based modern funk pioneers The James Douglas Show (The JDS) are considered the bad boys of this new musical movement. Hit performers such as Daft Punk, LMFAO, Bruno Mars and Bad Rabbits have incorporated synchronized band choreography, funk guitar, and vocoder-driven sounds of the 70s....all of which have been staples of The James Douglas Shows live performances for over a decade. Standing at the forefront of a resurgence of funk/soul music while, at the same time, infusing their own breed of high-energy pop, The James Douglas Show is in a class all its own
often imitated, but never duplicated.
The James Douglas Show has shared the stage with artists such as Keith Sweat, Carrie Underwood, Poison, Al B. Sure, K-Ci and JoJo, Keith Urban, Nickelback, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. They are now touring the country in support of their current single, Vegas Hot, an ode to the city that inspired their high-energy party aura. Vegas Hot has been selected as the official anthem for LasVegas.coms marketing campaign, as well as Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Bad Girls Club, & Best Ink. The video will debut November 7th on the SyFy Network reality show, Skin.
Rolling Stone magazine recently recognized The JDS as one the years Bands to Watch.
The JDS is the house band for the syndicated late-night television program, The After After Party, featuring Emmy Award winning actor and comedian Steven Michael Quezada from Breaking Bad. The show features some of the regions biggest celebrities as well as music and comedy from around the country. The After After Party will be available to over 50 million homes worldwide via DirecTV.
The James Douglas Show has garnered attention as one of the hardest working bands in the nation. With an average of over 200 performances per year, The JDS has proven their mettle on the road, delivering high-energy performances night after night for over a decade.
