The Jackies CD MY GIRL FRIDAY is a collection of well crafted, hook oriented and highly memorable pop songs written, arranged, and produced by Bob Catalde. Catalde is a long time, and well documented musician from the New Haven Connecticut scene. The Jackies, his latest effort finds the writer at the top of his skills, demonstrating his song writing talents with an imanginative and seasoned ease that draws one in, and leaves one humming the tracks long after that first run through. The Jackies influeces include Bell & Sebastian, Rufus Wainwright, Wilco, Ben Kweller, the Beatles, the Kinks, and the Who. Catalde a seasoned performer has opened shows for many established acts at leading venues such as Toads Place in New Haven CT, for the likes of the Ramones and others. He has played with former New York Doll and Corpse Grinder Rick Rivets, as well as former Animals guitarist Hilton Valentine. The CD MY GIRL FRIDAY is regularly played on WPLR local bands, WPKN, and WNHU radio where it recieves many request, and much praise. In regards to the Jackies, Patrick Ferrucci entertainment editor of the New Haven Register has said, " The quintet has a penchant for making striking power pop that at times sticks in your head, while it also experiments with different tones and moods. Ferrucci goes on to compare the Jackies to the Elephant 6 collective, the group of musicians from Athens Georgia that took the college music world by storm in the mid-to late 90s. Ferrucci went on in a later article to rank the CD as one of his top ten releases for 2009 by Connecticut bands. What sets the Jackies apar,t is a CD rich in lyrical landscapes, great vocals and a fresh approach to pop music.
