“God bless bratty, bass playing punk grrls. Lucky for L.A.'s Dollyrots, they happen to have one” - Blender - March 2007
“If Los Angeles’ pop-punk outfit the Dollyrots were a Crayola crayon, Because I’m Awesome is a delectable Easter basket of songs, with chugging guitars set to infectious choruses of “nah-nah,” “yeah-yeah,” and “yum-yum… Ogden—all blond hair, tall boots, and short skirts—makes pissed off look adorable. And the Dollyrots make punk look like fun again” - Gibson.com - March 2007
“gleefully snotty bubblegum punk...you'll love Because I'm Awesome — in part because of the ironic whimsy of the title track, in part because of the scorched-earth political patter song "A Desperate S.O.S.," in part because of the absolute crunchy perfection of "17," and in part because of the band's exhilarating appropriation of 1970 bubblegum classic "Brand New Key." - All Music Guide - March 2007
“The title of the new Dollyrots record says it all…I feel awesome every time I listen to it. Joan Jett couldn’t have found a better heir to her throne in Kelly Ogden.” - No Good TV - March 2007
“With the Dollyrots sophomore effort “Because I’m Awesome,” you get the best of both worlds – bubble gum sweetness mixed with punk attitude. It’s a combination not many bands can pull off, but The Dollyrots manage to do just that, and do it well - Suite 10 - March 2007
“Finally, music fans, there’s a new by a new group that carries the kiss-my-ass swagger we’ve not heard in far too long. The new album is ‘Because I’m Awesome’ and the new group are the Dollyrots” - Monsters and Critics - March 2007

Bio
Founded by longtime friends Ogden and Cabezas, whose relationship stems back to their eighth-grade Florida middle school days, the Dollyrots assembled as a fun, diversionary tactic while the pair wrapped up their school days. Ogden had just learned to play the guitar and Cabezas, a classically-trained pianist, had just left his band. Ogden and Cabezas, during the 2000 presidential election debacle in Florida convinced these musicians that the stage was the way to force change.
'We were watching the 2000 presidential election results, and when we found out that [George] W. [Bush] had won, Luis and I were like, 'The world's probably gonna end anyway,' so we thought, 'Let's just do the band,''
Ogden and Cabezas decided it was time to relocate, they decided the City of Angels would become their new home. 'It was terrifying and awesome,' Ogden says of the band's earlier days. 'But we found a place that had everything we needed ' record labels, venues, other bands. It seemed like the right place.'
It was also the right time ' The Dollyrots had assembled its debut, Eat My Heart Out, and self-released the album to rampant success which led to the band getting picked up by Lookout!/Panic Button Records, which re-released Eat My Heart Out in 2004. Raising the band's stage profile came with a slot on the 2006 Vans Warped Tour, performing alongside a slew of punk acts for six weeks on the Kevin Says and Shira stages throughout the U.S. The tour was important for The Dollyrots since it allowed them to connect with Warped '06's VIP woman, Joan Jett.
Jett took a liking to The Dollyrots and offered to add the band to the roster of her label, Blackheart Records. Excited about their new found home at Blackheart Records, the band is revitalized and road-tightened.
"Blackheart Records is thrilled to release The Dollyrots, as soon as we heard them, we knew they were a perfect fit for Blackheart" -- Blackheart Records
Blackheart Records, started by legendary, Joan Jett, and her long time song writing partner and producer, Kenny Laguna, is a label run on artist integrity from an artist perspective. From the inception of Blackheart, over 25 years ago, the label has been run with one thing in mind, to get great music out into the world no matter what the obstacles may be.
"Joan Jett paved the way for bands like us and we're so excited to join the Blackheart Family...she, Kenny, and everyone at Blackheart have embraced our music & believe in us BECAUSE THEY'RE AWESOME!" --The Dollyrots
