Bio
Blazing out of Montreal’s indie rock scene, The Crystal Keys hit hard with an innovative sound that is as high-energy as it is unique. Their sound entices the listener in search of something that defies the norm. Whether it’s rock, pop or punk, they capture the music aficionado and the youth alike, rendering them both addicted to their stage presence and their taste for sex, drugs & rock ‘n’ roll.
From Montreal’s bar scene to concert halls, The Crystal Keys has played a variety of shows and have graced stages coveted by internationally renowned musicians. Having cut their teeth on the stages of Café Campus, Club Soda and Impérial de Québec, The Crystal Keys is a École du Show-Business Controverse 2010 Contest finalist and opening act for Juno award-nominated Die Mannequin. With several projects in the works, the group is constantly in search of new and exciting challenges. They are currently producing a video for their single “If I Want You” that has played on college radio, and has set fire to radio stations like CHOM FM and The Buzz.
The Crystal Keys’ first eponymous EP, recorded by up-and-coming producer Oli Jean, carries you to a realm of addictive hooks in which you are sure to lose yourself. Pat Gomes’ (Lead Vocals/Bass) distinctive voice and aggressive style intertwines with Chris Kasp’s (Vocals/Rhythm Guitar) harmonies. The three brothers add to the group with their peculiar flamboyance. Nick Goudreault (Drums) embodies great showmanship as he implements a full on assault of the skins while Joe Goudreault (Guitar) challenges him with his burlesque theatrics and punk-rock antics. Cristal Goudreault (Keys/Synth) is the keystone of the band. He is, without a doubt, a virtuoso who enthralls the listener with his stirring rhythms and symphonies.
It would be slightly unfair to compare the group to the likes of The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Fall Out Boy or The Cure, but these bands have inspired the quintet to create music while preserving a unique identity and sound. The enthusiastic fans, burgeoning EP sales, and local media appreciation have definitely fed this eccentric family’s desire to play amongst the greats! Keep your eyes and ears open, as The Crystal keys are coming soon to a stage near you!
