"Socially Conscious Hippies..."

"The Capitalist Hippie Complex rides the cusp of convention and revolt. At night they emerge onstage in the spirit of socially conscious hippies..."

- Skope Magazine, November 2007 - Skope Magazine

"Wall of Sound..."

With the number of shows KBH Entertainment has booked over the years, it is not uncommon to be "surprised" by a performance. This is not always a good thing. However, to be "pleasantly surprised" is quite rare. That would describe my experience at a recently booked Capitalist Hippie Complex show. The players were all excellent and proved to be quite compelling with their funk/groove/rock hybrid sound. The tongue-in-cheek rapped yarns delivered by Joey, the dread-locked front man, put a unique spin on this wall of sound. The sultry and powerful vocals of Lilla D'Mone rounded out this impressive performance. We look forward to having CHC play again.

The Capitalist Hippie Complex

The Capitalist Hippie Complex is a slamming 10-piece original band combining funk, jazz, hip hop, spoken word, and rock into by far one of the most original sounds today. The CHC's unique approach to merging genres and streams of consciousness has generated national print coverage and earned them an appearance with two-time Grammy Award winners Arrested Development.

1: the guilt associated with abandoning your morals in pursuit of comfort

In January of 2007, Joey Flores teamed up with composer and producer, Yotam Rosenbaum, in an attempt to create music without compromise. They assembled a team of L.A.'s finest musicians - artists who have had played with legends from Arethra Franklin and Stevie Wonder to Hootie and the Blowfish and Tupac Shakur. Solidifying the scorching 10-piece band, complete with vibraphone and a three-piece horn section, The Capitalist Hippie Complex was born.
