A short break to re-equip the stage for the ‘electric’ section of the event gave the opportunity for my partner to disappear for supplies – unfortunately meaning that I had no-one to mind the kit during The Bluebottle Veins set.
Their tune-up suggested that they might have a leaning towards a Blues influence, so it was no surprise that I was blown away by their set. Featuring Terry Cowley - Vocals / Guitar, one time member of another of my favourite Deeside bands, Monte Casino Gareth Jones - Vocals / Guitar, Dirty Static’s Steven Owen – Bass and Dylan Tattum – Drums, provided a set that I will long remember, and from that experience, I will make every effort to go and see them again.
Although, not a Blues outfit in the conventional sense, the underpinning of this genre is what made their sound so appealing. Wonderful performance, which I could have easily listened to for a lot longer. - Academy Images

Bio
The Bluebottle Veins earliest incarnation formed in late 2011 when old band mates Terry Cowley and Gareth Jones decided to get together and write songs headed in a heavier and bluesier direction than either of them had played in their previous band, The Lupin Thieves. Based in Flintshire, North Wales, the two friends decided that it was time that some raw, visceral excitement was injected into the local music scene.
After many song writing sessions and the odd acoustic night later, the two finalised the line up in May 2012 thanks to the addition of local musician Steven Owen and Dylan Tattum. Steven had previously been in local Rock group Dirty Static and Dylan in the Metal/Hard Rock Band, Old Black Tattoo.
The bands affinity for Classic Rock and the Blues brought them together and shaped their unique sound, with some of the bands main influences being The Beatles, Jack White, Led Zeppelin, The Who and AC/DC. On top of this the band has quite distinct modern personal tastes which range from The Black Keys, Foo Fighters to Black Flag and Tool.
Since their first gig together the four piece have gone from strength to strength gigging all over their local area and building up an enthusiastic and dedicated following.
Terry's distinct vocal, Gareth's searing lead guitar and vocal backup, Stevens intricate and driving bass lines coupled with Dylan's airtight powerhouse drumming all combine to make one of the most exciting and unique sounds to come from North Wales.
