The Black Sunn & 810

Baltimore MC's Black Sunn & 810 have teamed for a joint project entitled United Division, with the purpose of not only representing DMV hip-hop in a fresh light but more specifically, putting Baltimore on the map. They seek not only to reflect the city of Baltimore and its effect upon the youth, but to reflect America and its effects on the young population as a whole.

Both have high hopes to rock the nation with their easy to relate to music. The Black Sunn and 810 identify life as a main source of inspiration for their music due to all of the common experiences listeners can easily relate to. It is the unique combination of what these young emcees stand for, their brute honesty, and how all of that is packaged and delivered that separates them from the crowd of emerging rappers.

The sound coming from these two young emcees on United Division is not what one would expect from the Baltimore, a city who's national perception has most recently been shaped by HBO's hit series The Wire. While the duo's music doesn't shy away from talking about the drug trade, corruption, and the streets, they don't glamorize those of Baltimore life either. The two emcees are simply portraying the environment they grew up in and they life they've always known. They manage to spin their lyrics to put more emphasis on not just the negaitive, but all aspects of their hometown. In this way, The Black Sunn & 810 provide listeners with a unique fresh view of the Charm City through their own eyes.
