Bio
Formed in Calgary Alberta, "The Dead Man's Black Lung Brigade" as it is formally known, is the brainchild of boyhood friends Craig Howe and Jay Quinn. Having begun playing music together at age 12, the two have grown, and developed a unique musical style that can only come from time. "As a musician, you spend your life looking for those unspoken bonds, I was just lucky to find one at such a young age, which allowed us to create something that is rare and raw" says Jay when asked about the band's sound. They have been likened to 'Mumford and Sons' 'Blitzen Trapper' and 'Deer Tick' and have even been referred to as having a 'Dylan-esque' sound.
The song-writing duo was joined in 2010 by long time friend Kyle Kromm who specifically began playing the bass for this project. "Despite being relatively new to playing music, his dedication to his craft has produced one hell of a bass player" boasts Craig. He created a sound that blends jazz and rock and roll which when added to the folk-indie sound that Jay and Craig had developed creates a uniquely dark yet effervescent sound. With their first studio album 'Till the Devil Knows You're Dead' set for release April 18th 2014, the band is excited about the future and the endless possibilities.
