Bio
Starting in New England in the mid 80's, Shamus was primarily a teenage solo act. Acoustic slung over his shoulder, he was seen regularly on the Rhode Island open-mic circuit and playing gigs in NY, CT and MA from the age of 15. In 1988, he was approached by Christopher Greene (Acid Reign) of the band New Rising Sun. They asked him to join the band and add his songs to their repertoire. The result was an immediate gold rush of ideas, styles and new songs that would make NRS a hit in New England. They went on to play until 1991 in numerous clubs and radio stations, and were a favorite on the college rock circuit. They also enjoyed a short stint as the opening act for Noel Redding of the Jimi Hendrix Experience.....

As a side project in 1991, Shamus started the band ThumB with then NRS bassist, Angus O'Connor (M-80, New Rising Sun) - but both ultimately left NRS to commit to Shamus's new band. With Erik Strommer (Kevin Lee and the Kings) on drums and Angus on bass, a more complex sound developed and propelled the band into a very progressive style.....

In 1995, Shamus and Erik migrated to Chicago. Picking up Chris Mastroianni (Black Beauties) to replace Angus on bass, they changed their name to Earshot and continued to rampage through the mid-west releasing their 1st full length CD, "Pull" in the winter of 1999. Earshot quickly gathered a large fan base. With bands such as Sour, Nova Sonic, and Vivid on the same bill, the band was well-received by show-goers from the start. ....

Homesick for the Atlantic, Shamus wanted to get back to his east coast roots and in 2001 moved to NYC. After a short time playing in other projects, Shamus formed another band, Dogwater, featuring Jeremy Bloomenthal (Honeydew, Your Majesties, Stereovibe) on drums and Paul Curtin on bass. Their most notable show at the Ace of Clubs was their last -- and a farewell to Jeremy, who would be moving to Japan.....

After Jeremy's departure, Shamus picked up his long-time but neglected love, his bass...and joined Steev Richter and Robert Allen (Tintern Abbey) to create Jameson Steinway. Lots of fun and excitement ensued, including music videos and a cross-country purple-van tour in 2008, which ended at Olives in Nyack, NY on Halloween. ....

After his year with Jameson Steinway , Shamus has once again picked up the guitar and conjured up a certain magic that he calls Quiet Stampede with Bassist Kareem Clark, .. and Drummer Steve Fruda.
