The Lost Brigade
Chicago, Illinois, United States | Established. Jan 01, 2014 | INDIE
Bio
The remaining original members of the Lost Brigade came together initially in order to help their friend Matthew Morgan play a few live shows in support of his first solo album Red Silhouettes.
The group of longtime friends soon found that they had stumbled into something special. In very short order this collection of experienced musician morphed into the new group Matthew Morgan & The Lost Brigade and landed a record deal with CUADog records, releasing their debut CD "FOUND" in December of 2012 with a sold out show at Chicago's famous DOUBLE DOOR.
In December of 2013, wishing the band all the best, Matthew Morgan decided to return his attention back to his solo music endeavors and multi-instrumentalist Dave Szpunar, who had already announced his pending departure, took the opportunity of Matt leaving to bow out as well.
The remaining original members of MMLB, (Anita Chase, Anand Christopher, Jeff Gilbert and Kevin Lahvic) have now been joined by the very talented Eric Lewis-Baker. The new line-up remains true to the band's original musical mission (Make Friends not Fans) while adding both cello and trumpet to an already impressive collection of traditional and not-so traditional instrumentation.
During 2013 the band played many of Chicago's best live music venues, including Sub T, The Hard Rock Cafe, Martyr's, Abby Pub, Uncommon Ground's two locations, Goose Island, Wise Fools Pub, The Elbo Room, etc. In addition, the band has also performed at many of the city's festivals, taste of Lincoln Avenue, Coyote, The Bucktown Garden Walk, RAW, The Milwaukee Ave Art Fest and 2013's inaugural "Chillfest"
The group also enjoyed several exciting road trips, highlighted by a trip to Texas last spring for SXSW, which is also on the calendar for 2014.
We invite you, old friends and new, to ride along.
