Bio
Marlon's musically adventurous spirit can be evidenced in his repertoire where Cole Porter and Porter Wagoner can sit side by side on a set list and exchange glances. His original songs reference his love of roots music and he regularly appears as a duo with other songwriters such as Mark Zeus and Kris Nichols.
In addition to regular tours that take him to Texas, and the upper Midwest, Marlon actively performs and promotes shows throughout the region. He currently hosts the Wednesday Open Mic at Brownstone Tavern, and has an EP "Lots of Love" available on iTunes and through Amazon.
Originally from an Indiana rural route, Marlon has appeared throughout the Midwest with such acts as Borrowed Time, Cries & Whispers, and Don Bole and The Wild Wood Boys. He has opened for such diverse acts as Leon Redbone, Delbert McClinton, Marsha Ball, Shadowfax, and Jimmy Rogers.
Since 1995, he has lived and performed in the Chicago area working with such acts as Mark Zeus/Thunderboltz and Moco Magana. He appears regularly at Lovell's of Lake Forest and has done a residency at The Abbey Pub along with fellow songwriter Kris Nichols. He has also contributed original music for theatrical productions such as Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and Beth Henley's "The Wake of Jamie Foster".
Songs such as "Dragonfly", "Last of The Night", "Wide Open Road", and "Lots of Love" have helped to establish him as notable local act, and his skills as a guitarist, percussionist and harmony vocalist keep him in demand as a sideman.
In addition to traditional music venues, Marlon is available for house concerts, festivals, and other events.
