Bio
Terry Klein is an Austin-based Americana singer and songwriter. His deep, personal songs reach for universal truths about vulnerability, love, family, and work. Terry's work draws on the genius of Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard, and Townes Van Zandt. "I'm convinced that writing songs -- chasing them, really -- saved my life," Terry says. "The sense of connection I get when I share songs with people is a magical, miraculous thing. I treasure it."
Terry's forthcoming record, "Great Northern", was produced by Walt Wilkins and recorded by Ron Flynt at Jumping Dog Studio in Austin. It will be released in Spring 2017.
Terry was a featured performer at Strange Brew's August 2016 New Artist Showcase in Austin and performed at Club Passim's campfire. festival in Cambridge, Massachusetts over the Labor Day weekend in 2016. His song "Dull Women Keep Immaculate Homes" was a "publisher's pick" at the 2017 Austin Songwriters Group Annual Symposium. He performs regularly at venues and house concerts in the Austin area.
Terry is a recovering lawyer. For 15 years, he was civil litigator in Boston, Massachusetts, handling everything from contested speeding tickets to complex oral arguments in federal appellate courts. He relocated to Austin with his wife Lindsay and their two daughters, Zoe and Beatrice, in July 2016 to pursue singing and songwriting full time.
