"Humor, harmony and humanity illuminate the vivacious hook-driven artistry of Tamar Haviv. On her debut full-length release, You and Me Without Pajamas, the New York-based singer/songwriter offers up wry observations adorned with band, bells, and the occasional wash of strings. Whether coaxing echoes of a carnival boardwalk on “Ridiculously Beautiful” or pondering the impossibilities of attraction on “Orange,” Haviv delivers a left of center lyricism in a voice of endearing intimacy and fearless authenticity."

Tamar Haviv Biography
By Annie Reuter
Tamar Haviv’s energy is contagious. Her full-length debut, You and Me Without Pajamas, embodies heartfelt ballads, fun pop tunes and tales of love and longing we all can relate to.
“Music just lives its own life, it just breathes with it’s own breath and can get through anything. It's beautiful. It's blind,” She say’s.
Tamar took a new direction on You and Me Without Pajamas from her previous EP, which was riddled with poetic nuances. This time around, she gave herself permission to write simple and, at times quirky, songs.
“It’s almost like expressing clearly very primal desires. Simply saying ‘I like you,’ unpacking that thought from all the poetry around it, it’s keeping it in its purist form,” she says.
Tamar has been writing for as long as she can remember. In fact, she says the most consistent thing in her life has been music.
“I remember writing songs in my bed singing under the covers and trying not to be heard, not to wake anyone up or get in trouble.” she says. “I sang the first song I ever wrote at the fifth grade talent show.”
And she’s been singing ever since.
Her emerging artistry was recognized when she was chosen as a finalist in the Lilith Fair Talent search
After she garnered a spot as a finalist at Lilith Fair, Tamar began to take music more seriously. Shortly after, she received her degree from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in the U.K. founded by Sir Paul McCartney. While she was there, she dreamt of a music studio in Woodstock, New York. Soon after graduation, she moved to Woodstock and got a job at that very music studio.
It was here that she focused more on her songwriting, guitar playing, dove into production ideas and met some of the musicians featured on her album including Jerry Marotta (Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, Indigo Girls), Sara Lee (The B-52’s, Ani DiFranco) Kevin Salem (Rachael Yamagata, Mandy Moore).
Tamar has lived a nomadic lifestyle and often leads with her intuition. As a result, her dreams have helped guide her on her path – bringing her both melodies and direction. A massage therapist by day, songs often come at inopportune times but she always figures a way to write them down.
“I’ll be in the middle of giving a massage and I’ll have to excuse myself to run to the back of the house with my phone and record a lyric or a melody. Once in a while, I‘ll hold it in for a whole session but that feels more uncomfortable than holding in a sneeze – it’s just not healthy and it’s truly sad to lose an inspired song-writing moment.”
You and Me Without Pajamas blends Tamar’s lively demeanor with her more sensitive side. Tracks like “Pining” impress with sweeping piano and whispered vocals while the playful “Girls Away from Girls” even had Paul McCartney singing along. Dubbing You and Me Without Pajamas a “Terrific debut,” the former Beatle isn’t the only one impressed with Tamar’s music.
A major influence on Tamar, Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls praises her music as well, calling her release “Excellent.”
“Both Amy Ray’s music and intentions have taught me loads. Her voice just carries me,” Tamar says. “She is a strong person and takes a stand behind all of these amazing politics and movements in the world that are really impo
