Tamara is a classicaly trained vocalist who has been singing professionally since the age of 9. She found jazz in her high school years and began studying the great jazz vocalists such as Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald. Tamara met jazz pianist Javier Santiago in New York at one of his gigs. The both found that they have a love for jazz and hip hop and began to practice together performing jazz and hip hop standards. Tamara and Javi began to perform throughout New York City as a duo for a year. Two new members joined the band, drummer Xavier Hill and bassists Alexander da Silva. They began playing together and the energy and the vibed clicked. They have been performing as a band in the NYC area for the past year and are currently working on their debut EP Harlem Suite. They are influenced by Robert Glasper, A Tribe Called Quest, Gretchen Parlato, Digable Planets, Mos Def, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, D'angelo, and Esperanza Spalding, J Dilla, and Wayne Shorter.
