Bio

Swell Daze formed in 2011 in Purcellville, Virginia, consisting of McCoy Douglasson (vocals), Addison Smith (guitar), and Titus Barton (drums). They began to garner a fan base in mid-2012 after playing many gigs at local festivals, bars and restaurants throughout the Northern Virginia area. In March 2012, Swell Daze recorded an eponymous debut EP at a friend's home studio. After its release, Swell Daze continued to gain popularity, especially with their hit song, "Hooked," which catapulted their EP to #167 on the National CMJ College Radio charts. In addition, "Hooked" was licensed to Tony Hawk's RIDE Channel and several TV programs on MTV, Discovery Channel, VH1, E!, and NASCAR. In September 2012, Mitch Weissman (bass), joined Swell Daze adding a whole new dimension to their sound, completing the lineup that exists today.

Building on this momentum, Swell Daze released a full length album titled ‘Simple Fix’ on July 1, 2014. This opened many doors for Swell Daze, including repeat bookings at notable events such as Taste of Reston, Celebrate Fairfax, and many others. They also released a music video for their song Hooked in November 2014 to support the album.

Presently, Swell Daze is playing several shows throughout the greater DMV area in support of their latest release called ‘Electrify Me’. The 21 minute, 6 song EP shows Swell Daze's writing style heading in a more mature direction with a focus on catchy melodies, relatable lyrics, and pop style arrangements. The songs, however, are still driven by strong lead and backing vocals, heavy lead guitars, melodic bass lines, and powerful yet tasteful drum parts that make up the Swell Daze sound. Two weeks prior to the release of the EP Swell Daze released a video for the first single off of the album, also called ‘Electrify Me’.
