SuckerForLights is bringing back the old new-wave sound for us. Vocalist and synth player Olivia Voss and guitarist Bryan Brunt have been working on music together since 2007, but only officially put out the first EP last year. Their latest single, "To Love, We Swore" from their upcoming debut LP, is reminiscent of Cocteau Twins, with sweeping vocals, atmospheric synths, and understated guitar hooks. -ROCHELLE HUNTER - Portland Mercury

I love this SuckerForLights self-titled EP.
It’s comprised of five fantastic songs and I’ve been through it 15 times, so far…
SuckerForLights is a Dreampop duo from Portland, Oregon. The band was started in 2008 by vocalist/keyboardist Olivia Voss and guitarist Bryan Brunt. Voss’ distinct falsetto and verbrato coupled with Brunt’s perfectly complementary guitar hooks make for an eclectic mix of catchy (in a good way) tunes.
SuckerForLights offer lyrically brilliant, often anthemic, 80’s-influenced goodness and my ears are eager for more. I simply can’t get enough.

The contrast between two of SuckerForLights' songs couldn't be more different. "Follow The Sun" has a great rhythm, much like those great old The Feelies' songs. "It's Loud It's Dark," on the other hand is slow and sweet. Could this be two different bands? Well, maybe you could make that case. However, calling SuckerForLights a diverse group would be more like it. "We Don't Move" is also more on the upbeat side, with its finger-snap-y rhythm. There is much to enjoy about SuckerForLights. You won't feel like a sucker for enjoying it, don't worry. - Indie-Music.com, Dan MacIntosh
First to play was Sucker For Lights. SFL is an indie pop band that is made up of vocalist and synth player Olivia Voss and Bryan Brunt. Voss gave the audience heartfelt lyrics and verbrato that would inspire any music enthusiasts. Brunt played guitar, offering solos and guitar hooks that were something more interactive and physical than similar pop music. Bassist Elbyne Cuizon laid down thick bass riffs that that kept the tight rhythm of the songs moving. - bePortland, Kyle Helstein
SuckerForLights is ready for its close-up. The Portland duo, which formed in 2007 but apparently hadn’t released any material before last March’s self-titled EP, plays catchy, New Wave-ish pop that would probably sound more natural on 94.7 FM than it will on stage at Rotture tonight. Joined by guitarist Bryan Brunt and guest bassist, singer and synth player Olivia Voss’ bright-and-shiny synth hooks and almost diva-esque vocals should, however, serve as a complementary appetizer to headliner Sundaze’s also ’80s-influenced shoegazing. - Willamette Week, Jonathan Frochtzwajg

SuckerForLights is a Dreampop duo from Portland, Oregon. The band was started in 2008 by vocalist Olivia Voss and guitarist Bryan Brunt. Their self-titled 5-track EP, released March 2011, was produced by Jeremy Sherrer (The Dandy Warhols, Hockey) at the Odditorium, Spooky Electric studios, and the Family Farm. While listening to SuckerForLights' EP, you'll enjoy Olivia's fluid modal to falsetto vocal sweeps and the understated elegance of Bryan's guitar hooks. The band's sound has been referenced to the Dreampop, New Wave, Shoegaze and Indie Pop genres. Reviews have compared them to Cocteau Twins, The Smiths and Kate Bush.
SuckerForLights has shared the stage with acts such as The Jealous Sound and Letting Up Despite Great Faults. In 2012 the band will release a digital single followed by their debut LP in 2013.
